Être connecté au réseau, comme le remarque Fred Forest, voilà peut-être le sens intrinsèque et fondamental des tuyaux à communication sympathique : être connecté au réseau de la sympathie. Projet utopique, idéal lunaire, peut-on rêver d’un réseau solidaire dégagé de toute forme économique, ne nécessitant que le minimum matériel, accessible à tous ? Voilà en tout cas certaines idées fortes qui me conduisirent à décliner et réaliser ce projet d’action artistique sociale.

La communication par « sympathie » repose sur l’idée de la chaîne humaine aléatoire. Il s’agit d’établir une communication entre deux points pour envoyer une œuvre d’art ou un message par l’intermédiaire d’autres individus sollicités pour transporter l’objet aussi près du but qu’ils le pourront. Seule la réception permet de constater l’efficacité de ce type de communication et, par extension, le niveau de sympathie du réseau. L’aspect marginal de cette forme de communication interroge une télécommunication banalisée. Elle donne du vécu à l’objet communiqué. Elle matérialise la distance parcourue par l’action de l’ensemble des individus qui auront contribué au déplacement de l’objet.

Le réseau de communication est donc issu de la participation spontanée et volontaire des individus (gens sympathiques) susceptibles de croiser les tuyaux à communication sympathique en contribuant à leur acheminement.

Le support est constitué de boîtes cylindriques étanches contenant l’œuvre ou le message. Elles sont recouvertes d’inscriptions, dont le lieu de destination, ainsi que la personne éventuelle à qui le message est adressé. Une autre inscription est destinée aux  convoyeurs sympathiques » afin d’expliquer brièvement la démarche et de solliciter leur participation pour le bon acheminement du Tuyau.

To be connected to the network, as Fred Forest notices it, here is perhaps the intrinsic and fundamental meaning of the tubes with likeable communication : to be connected to the network of sympathy*. Utopian project, lunar ideal, can we dream of a solidarity network free of any economic form, requiring only the minimum material of accessible to all ? Anyhow, here are strong ideas which led me to decline and carry out this social artistic action project.

The communication by "sympathy"*, or likeable communication, is based on the idea of a random human chain. It is a question of establishing communication between two points to send an artwork or a message through other individuals who will transport the object as close to the goal as they are able. Only the reception makes it possible to note the effectiveness of this type of communication and, consequently, the level likeabillity of the network. The fringe communication questions standardized telecommunication. It gives life to the communicated object. It materializes the distance covered by the action of all the individuals who contribute to the displacement of the object.

The communication network results thus from the individuals spontaneous and volunteer participation (likeable people) liable to cross the tubes with likeable communication while contributing to their routing.

The support are tight cylindrical boxes containing the artwork or the message. They are covered with inscriptions, the destination, as well as the possible person to which it the message is addressed. Another inscription is intended for the « likeable conveyors » in order to briefly explain the process and to ask them to participate in the good routing of the tube.
