« La créativité des enfants s’accomplit dans l’usage quotidien des territoires qu’ils fréquentent et fabriquent. Les enfants du quartier de La Chesnaie à Saint-Nazaire ont rencontré l’artiste Romain Louvel pour en témoigner. Ces images préfigurent une réalité à débattre. »

Plusieurs jours de résidence dans ce quartier ont permis d’enquêter sur le territoire de jeu des enfants. Invisible à première vue, celui-ci se révèle sur ces photos et déguise le mobilier urbain avec sagacité et astuce. Qui croyait ignorer les faits ? Comment sont-ils interprétés ?

À ces questions, les 8000 cartes postales se répandent dans l’espace social et sollicitent l’avis général. Encore une fois, les représentations et les discours communs passent en revue sans échapper à la critique. De dégradation pour les uns, il serait question d’épanouissement et de liberté pour les autres. Heureux, embarrassé, les problèmes ne sont jamais là où on croit les trouver.

« Creativity of children is realised during the daily use of territories which they frequent and they make up. The children of the neighbourhood La Chesnaie from Saint-Nazaire met the artist Romain Louvel to testify it. Pictures are prefiguring a problematic reality. »

Many days in the neighbourhood allow me to investigate about the children games territories. Invisible at the beginning, the photos reveal it and shrewdly dress up the urban furniture. Who thought to ignore those facts ? How are they interpreted ?

To debate about this phenomenon, we printed 8000 postcards and distributed them in the social space of the neighbourhood. Thus, we convoke the public opinion. Again, representations and common ideas are mobilised but don’t avoid the critic. Damage for some, we talk about blooming and freedom for others. Happy, embarrassed, the problems never are there where we think to find them.
